So.. What Does a Home Inspection Typically Cover?
Thinking of purchasing a home? Learn what a home inspection typically covers, before hiring a home inspector. Be sure to protect your future investment for your family; it is vital you get a home inspection by an experienced inspection company. Contrary to common knowledge, your lender doesn’t guarantee the condition of the home you’re purchasing. If you close on the home, then find problems, your options are limited. So as a home buyer it is imperative for you to get a general home inspection. Know what it does and does not cover.
An evaluation would be done of the home’s physical condition including its structure, mechanical systems, and its construction. Also included would be an estimation of the remaining useful life in all your home’s major systems, equipment, structure, and finishes like plumbing and roofing. In addition, identification of any items that require necessary repairs or replacement is inspected as well.
Here are some items a typical home inspection covers: the structure, the exterior, the roof, plumbing, electrical, heating and air conditioning systems, any interiors, ventilation, appliances, the fireplace and more.
As for what a home inspection typically does not cover, here is a general list, but always ask a home inspection company before hiring them what is or is not covered.
- Lawn sprinkler systems
- Alarm monitoring systems
- TV or satellite dishes
- Hot tubs and swimming pools
- Appliances
- Detached structures like a shed or garage
- Well systems
- Pests, rodents or termites
- Environmental hazards like radon, asbestos or lead
After a home inspection service is completed, you typically will receive a full color detailed home inspection report that is easy to read and loaded with all the information you’ll need. For more information and details, go to https://generalhomeinspection.com/what-does-a-home-inspection-cover/.
